THE STORY:

While on a routine mission Spock starts acting funny, he takes over the ship and heads back to his home planet of Vulcan. When Kirk regains control of the ship he puts it back on the original ship and when Spock collapses they discover Spock must return to Vulcan or die.

It's the Vulcan mating ritual, Pom Var, every seven years the Vulcan has a need to mate and return home. So the crew heads for Vulcan to head to his prearranged marriage. Things really turns ugly when she demands combat and picks James as her challenger and he excepts not knowing it was a fight to the death.

THE OPINION:

I kind of liked this episode, it's cool to see what Vulcan looks like. I also love that weapon they used in the fight. Checov was introduced in this episode and that was cool.
